Mary Katherine "Katy" Winton, who resided in Lavaca, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018, in Fort Smith. She was born April 1, 1940, in Lavaca, to the late Dan Cason "Buddy" Cross and Marie Geraldine Phillips Cross. She was 78 years old. She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Birch.

Katy was a hostess at Hunts Department Store in Fort Smith, and a member of Lavaca First Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 4th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Kyle Horton officiating. Burial will be at Lavaca City Cemetery in Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Roy Gene Winton; two daughters, Leah Walker and husband Robert of Cecil and Doris Sweazy and husband Jimmy of Roland; a son, Roy Winton of Sallisaw; a sister, Ann Graham of Lavaca; two brothers, Tommy Gamble of Van Buren and Danny Cross of Lavaca; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Lawrence Thomas, Kelly Hutchins, Dewayne Glidewell, Jason Graham, Tanner Graham, and Scott Brown.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital @ 501 St. Jude PL Memphis, TN  38105-9959.
