IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katrina Marie
Cutlip
February 4, 1983 – January 7, 2021
Katrina "Katy" Marie Cutlip, nee Hoagland, was born February 4, 1983, in Hammond, Indiana, to Leanne Hoagland-Smith. Coming from a non-traditional family, Katy grew up alongside her cousins, Phillip Schoonover and Christina Hanson. She became the daughter of Kenneth Smith at a young age and with that came her brothers, Paul & Kory Smith. Katy spent her youth in Valparaiso, Indiana and was a graduate of Wheeler High School. A fierce lover of The Region, Katy was only foolish enough to move away once. In both the greatest mistake of her life and the best decision ever, Katy moved to Alma, Arkansas to marry her husband, Scott Cutlip. She spent her time in Arkansas complaining about not living in Indiana and plotting for a way to return.
By marriage, Katy was given two incredible and unique children, Robyn (Chris) Ashbaugh and Tatiana Cutlip. Her greatest joy in life, other than screaming at poor drivers with profanities that would make a sailor blush, was her family. She and Scott had seven happy years together, filled with puns, eyerolls, and more love than Katy could have ever hoped for. Though never rich in money, they shared a life filled with priceless laughter and happiness. In life, as in death, Katy was eternally proud of her children for being exactly the people they wanted to be.
Ever the control freak, Katy insisted on doing things her way and was lucky enough that her family let her take charge. She forever collected introverts to tuck under her wings, cooked with love, and lived for good gin and old books. She follows her grandfather, LeRoy Hoagland, and grandmother, Norma Fritz, to the halls of Valhalla.
Katy passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021. She was her family's heart.
