Obituary

Josephine Marie Schmalz, who resided in Ratcliff, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was born December 31, 1917 in Franklin County, Arkansas to the late Joseph Mahl and Rebecca (Stubblefield) Mahl. She was 94 years old.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Edward Schmalz, and her five siblings, Raphael, Beatrice, Gladys, Andrew, and Richard.

Josephine was a homemaker. She also worked at Lady Fair Mills and at theParis Pant Factory. She was a member of the Mother's Society, St. Anthony Church Choir and member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Ratcliff.

Rosary service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 22nd at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23rd at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Ratcliff, with Father Eugene Luke, O.S.B. officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Anhalt and husband Bill of Russellville and Jo Ann Bolick and husband David of Little Rock; two sons, Clark Schmalz and wife Marguerite of Fort Smith and Mark Schmalz of Ratcliff; (8) grandchildren, Amy Bray, Shelley Hartsock, Wendy Moss, Robin Farnam, Kevin Schmalz, Holly Komp, Dustin Anhalt, and Heather Bolick; (15) great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and sons-in-law, Dustin Anhalt, Kevin Schmalz, Jason Komp, Trey Farnam, Paul Hartsock, Bill Anhalt, Mark Moss, and Mike Bray.

Family will visit with friends following the Rosary service at the funeral home in Paris.
