Obituary

Johnny Wilson, who resided in DeQueen, Arkansas, formerly of Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born October 1, 1937, in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was 79 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo (Turk) Wilson; a son, John Edward Wilson; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Wilson, the late wife of Mitchell Ward Wilson.

Johnny retired from the offshore oil industry, living in the Canary Islands, Venezuela, Singapore, and Spain. Johnny served in the Arkansas Air National Guards, and he was a member of First Baptist Church in DeQueen.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 28th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Jeff Holland officiating. Burial will be at Morris Cemetery in Bloomer, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Joanne (Ward) Wilson; three sons, Mitchell Ward Wilson of DeQueen, Ronald Wade Wilson and wife Misty of Nashville, Arkansas, and Chad Hamilton Wilson and wife Maggy of Van Buren; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Franzen, Zach Hodges, Nathan Hodges, T.J. Bigham, Bobby Craig, Gary Hunter, and David Hunter.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to Maggie House @ 1005 Second St. Charleston, Arkansas 72933. The Maggie House is a shelter or a home that was created to provide housing for children that have been abused and neglected.
