Obituary

Johnnie Lou Whitman, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born October 19, 1949, in Clarksville, Arkansas to the late John Edgar Felkins and Rosa Mildred (Isely) Felkins. She was 68 years old.

Johnnie was a retired math teacher at Charleston High School. She also taught at Potosi, Missouri and at Morrilton, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School, Mineral Area Junior College in Park Hills, Missouri, and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and she was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Charleston.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1st, at First United Methodist Church in Charleston. A private family burial will be at Oakland Memorial Cemetery in Clarksville, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ashley Whitman; her daughter and husband, Jana and Sam McCain and their children, Grant, Maddie, Payton and Garrett of Mulberry; her son and wife, John and Stephanie Whitman and their children, Alli and Wiley of Charleston; one sister, Kay Felkins of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, Charles Felkins and wife Suzanne of Haskell, Arkansas and Paul Felkins of Fayetteville; a sister-in-law, Sharon Whitman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Will Penny, Josh Ward, Ed Marion, Mickey Whitman, Duane Whitman, Todd Rasmussen, Henry Jones, and Bob Yarberry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Huggins, Steve Isely, and members of Ford Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Charleston First United Methodist Church @ P.O. Box 35 Charleston, AR 72933.
