John Jerome Thomas Kohler, who resided in Subiaco, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith. He was born December 8, 1937 in Paris to the late Joseph Kohler and Catherine Mary (Sehi) Kohler. He was 73 years old.
John was a retired night supervisor for Gen Corp. in Fort Smith. He was also a retired U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran, serving our country 21 years in the United States Air Force. He was a 1956 graduate of Subiaco Academy, member of the VFW, Knights of Columbus, St. Benedict Men's Society, and member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco.
Rosary service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 22nd at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23rd at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Paris, with "Full Military Honors" under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lillian (Geels) Kohler of the home; one son, Michael Kohler of Paris; two sisters, Dorothy Spaw of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mary Lynn Rowley of Poteau, Oklahoma; three brothers, Martinus Kohler, Joe Kohler, and Norbert Kohler, all of Beloit, Kansas; one granddaughter, Dana Backe of Friendswood, Texas; special cousins, Billy Joe Kohler of Paris, Lawrence Kohler of Booneville, and James Kohler of Ratcliff.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Kohler, Bill Soller, Scott Stover, William Koenigseder, Gilbert Koch, Herbert Geels, Bobby Sewell, and Larry Robberson.
Family will visit with friends following the Rosary service Friday night at the funeral home.
