John W. McGowan, who resided in Barling, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in Fort Smith. He was born on October 30, 1952, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late C.L. "Mac" and Dorothy (Griesbaum) McGowan. He was 69 years old.

John was of the Methodist faith.

John is survived by a son, Brian of Gainsville, Florida; a daughter, Ashley of Oklahoma; a sister, Dawn Boxer of Hot Springs; three grandchildren and a special friend in Christ, Linda Cobb.
