John Clifton "J.C." Nichols, Jr. resided in Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born February 2, 1938 in Sebastian County to the late John Clifton Nichols, Sr. and Ruby (Cotner) Nichols. He was 72 years old.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Donnie Nichols.
J.C. was a retired contract painter, a former employee of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Fort Smith and worked at the Academy Sports & Outdoors as a hunting & fishing sales clerk. He was a Army veteran, member of numerous Bass Clubs in Fort Smith, and member of the Community Free Will Baptist Church in Pocola, Oklahoma.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15th at Community Free Will Baptist Church in Pocola, with Rev. Carl Cheshier and Rev. Fred Warner officiating. Interment will be at Steep Hill Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife Mary, of the home; two daughters, Debbie Moschner & husband Anthony of Fort Smith and Missy Littleton & husband Brian of Greenwood; two sisters, Martha Mizell and Lois Brandon, both of Greenwood; one brother, Joe Dan Nichols of Huntington; four grandchildren, Danielle Moschner, Michael Moschner, Matthew Moschner, and Destiny Littleton.
Pallbearers will be Trent Cox, Chance Malone, Brian Nicely, Mark Nicely Richard Gordon, Joe Paul Sirmon, Joey Butler, and Monte Butler.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Trobaugh, Danny Trobaugh, Rayburn Green, Wendell Holmes, Curt McFarland, Eddie Butler, Nick Kury, and Scott Nicely.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home.
