Obituary

John Curtis Daves, Sr., who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. He was born on August 22, 1929, in Pickwick, Texas to the late James Lemual Daves and Ruby J. (Mitchell) Daves. He was 92 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Jean (Blocker) Daves and a daughter, Diane Daves.

J.C. was a retired wood model maker for the Civil Service. He was an U.S. Army Korean War veteran and member of First Baptist Church in Charleston.

A graveside service will by held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10th at Parks Cemetery in Charleston, with Bro. Artie Hudson officiating. Funeral services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Baggett and husband Jerry of Charleston and John Curtis Daves, Jr. of Charleston; a brother, Charles Daves and wife Marilyn of Texas; three grandchildren, Jacy Chronister, Lindsay Klomfas, and Joshua Daves; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan Plowman, Dane Plowman, Ryker Chronister, Karsyn Chronister, and Maxwell Daves.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home in Charleston.
