John Joseph Braith, age 84, of Charleston, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
John was born on May 12, 1938, in Sebeka, Minnesota, to Henry and Mary (Friedl) Braith.
On September 4, 1961, he married Ruth E. Halverson.
John is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 61 years; their children, James (wife Carmelita) Braith of Waldron, Arkansas, Joanne (husband James) Baird of Irving, Texas, Jacquelyn (husband Peter) Reyman of Charleston, Arkansas, Laura (husband Joseph) Bujarski of Paris, Arkansas, Elizabeth (husband David) Earnhart of Booneville, Arkansas, Julia (husband Jimmy) Hall of Beebe, Arkansas, and Stephanie (husband Amos) O'Connor of Greenwood, Arkansas; cherished family, Terry (wife Veta) Hall of Tyronza, Arkansas, Rick Harris of Waldron, Arkansas, and Ron Harris of Waldron, Arkansas; grandchildren, Christopher Ellis, Sherry (husband Brad) Nye, Jenny (husband Ben) Cavitt, Daniel Braith, John Baird, Charles Baird, Jonothan (wife Heather) Reyman, Joshua Reyman, Joseph (wife Nicole) Reyman, Ruth Reyman, Abigail Baird, Glenn (wife Natasha) Baird, Annaleisa Bujarski, Krystin Earnhart, Sara Earnhart (engaged to Chase Opolka), Timothy Earnhart, Ava Earnhart, Matthew Earnhart, Catherine (husband Paul) Spencer, Jimmy Hall Jr., Laurali O'Connor, Elizabeth Ann O'Connor, Stephanie Lorainne O'Connor, Alice O'Connor, and Angel (wife Chong) Perez; great-grandchildren, Christian Ellis, Faith Ellis, Benjamin Cavitt, Jacquelyn Cavitt, Logan Baird, Luke Baird, Amber Almy, Lyndsey Almy, Jacob Reyman, Brooklyn Reyman, Weston Reyman, Colton Reyman, Greyson Reyman, Thaddeus Sloan-Reyman, Theodore Sloan-Reyman, Aspen Baird, Emmalyn Earnhart, and Athena Perez; sisters-in-law, Joan Halverson, Carol Braith, and Beatrice Blegan; and nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Braith; brothers, Frank, Henry, and Albert; sisters, Martina Tappe, Marie Rummelhart, and Martha Hinds; and a son, Glen Braith.
Rosary service will be Wednesday, November 23rd at 5:00 p.m. at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, Arkansas.
Funeral mass service will be held on Friday, November 25th at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston with Father Norman McFall officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Charleston.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
John was a devout Catholic truly believing in the selfless love of Christ. Through his examples of the way he lived his life, he passed down the teachings of Christ to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew him.
