Rufus O'Neal "John" Beasley, who resided in the Friendship Community near Branch, Arkansas, died Monday, March 28, 2022, at his home. He was born on November 8, 1932, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Ruchel Beasley and Mamie (White) Beasley. He was 89 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife, Noma L. Beasley; a son, Gary Ray Beasley; two brothers, Charles Beasley and Raymond "Tom" Beasley; two sisters, Mittie Stockman and Monihree White; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Beasley.
John was retired military serving in the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and the Arkansas National Guard. He was a carpenter and cattle farmer, member of the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association, and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. John's biggest joy was baling hay and working on the farm. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2nd at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Rev. Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial will follow, with full military honors, at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by a son, Kevin Lee Beasley of Booneville; a daughter, Debbie Bower of Las Vegas; a sister, Myra Stringer of Honoraville, Alabama; a daughter-in-law, Mary Beasley of Caulksville; two grandchildren, Amanda Beauchamp and husband Damon and Chad Beasley and wife Shelby; four great-grandchildren, Lydia Beauchamp, Addison Beasley, Gavin Beauchamp, and Corbin Beauchamp.
Pallbearers are Jonathan Chambers, Billy Fonseca, Larry Hice, Brian Curbow, Kyler Curbow, Lane Hewett, Brian Young, and Nick Fender.
Honorary pallbearers are Carl Wilhelm and Ronnie Kennedy.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Charleston.
