Joey Edward Eveld, of Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Baptist Health Hospital in Fort Smith., Arkansas. He was born on July 25, 1945, in Altus, Arkansas, to the late Joseph William Eveld and Edith Martha (Lowe) Eveld. He was 76 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edmund John Eveld.
In 1995 Joey retired as Chief Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force 188th Fighter Wing in Fort Smith for 31 years. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the Knights of Columbus in leadership establishing several chapters for the organization.
Rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, April 18th at Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with family visitation following the service.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 19th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altus, with Father Norman McFall officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Altus, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda (Mooney) Eveld; a daughter, Laine Michele Eveld; a son, Joseph Loyd Eveld; a grandson, Joshua Edward Lee Eveld; a sister, Jo Eveld of Altus; six brothers, Don of Fort Smith; Jerry, Tommy, Stan and wife Teresa of Altus, Gary and wife Patsy of Paris, and Kevin and Sonya of Altus; a sister-in-law, Thella Brown Eveld of Fort Smith; special friends, Bobbie Eveld, Brian Jones and Angie Eveld; and his special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Donnie Eveld, Thomas Eveld, Brian Eveld, Doug Eveld, Kyle Eveld and Mark Bailey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Eveld, Clay Eveld, Michael Eveld, Chris Eveld and Jayson Peppas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Diabetes Association or to American Stroke Association.
