Joe Rietman resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born December 30, 1922 in St. Florian, Alabama to the late Joseph Henry Rietman and Clara (Haeger) Rietman. He was 87 years old.
Joe was a retired coal miner & farmer. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local #1285, was an Air Force veteran of WWII, member of the Knights of Columbus and member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Amelia Furlow and Mary Grabber.
Rosary service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 22nd, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23rd, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Peter Sharum O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille (Stief) Rietman, of the home and three sons, Stephen Rietman, David Rietman, and Phillip Rietman, all of Charleston.
Pall Bearers will be Joe Burton, Carl Miesner, Norbert Adams, Tim Kiene, Bill Gack, Gary Meyers, Charles Ketter, and Dennis Van Meter.
