Obituary

Joanne Ward Wilson of Dequeen, Arkansas, died Sunday, May 14, 2023, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on December 7, 1942, in Charleston, Arkansas, to the late John Robert and Pauline Lillian (Hamilton) Ward. She was 80 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Wilson; two sons, Eddie and Mitchell Wilson; her parents; three sisters, Carolyn Tolliver, Judy Brotherton and Patsy Raible; and one brother, Ronnie Ward.

Joanne was a graduate of Charleston High School. She worked for 20 years as the detention hall teacher at Dequeen Public Schools where she was also a substitute teacher.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Rev. Jeff  Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Morris Cemetery in Bloomer. Arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by two sons, Wade Wilson and wife Misty of Nashville, Arkansas, and Chad Wilson and wife Maggy of Van Buren; one brother, Steve Ward and wife Cindy of Ashdown, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Garrett Ewing, Addison Wilson, Peyton Wilson, Eduardo Wilson, Gloria Wilson, J. R. Wilson, Kelsey Craig, Mia Wilson and Laura Ann Wilson; one great-grandchild, Finley Rose Craig and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 o'clock (1 hour prior to service) on Friday, May 19th at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Wade Wilson, Tyler Franzen, Zach Hodges, Nathan Hodges, Greg Newhart, and Gary Hunter.
