Letha Joanne Steele of Huntington, Arkansas, died Monday, October 21, 2024, at her home. She was born on May 11, 1955, in Mena, Arkansas, to Roy Bass, Jr. and Eula Mae (Dilbeck) Bass. She was 69 years old. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Bass, Jr.; a brother, Leroy Bass; and a grandson, Brandon Wilson.
Joanne was pastor of Gospel Lighthouse in Waldron. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and cooking. She loved preaching God's word and leading others to Christ was her passion. She was the spiritual leader of her family. She was just a phone call away for prayer anytime, day or night, she would pray without ceasing on your behalf, and she would reach God's throne for you. Living, for Jesus was her legacy. Even in her final days, she never ceased to give God all the glory. Some of the last phrases she whispered was help me Jesus, thank you Jesus, and Jesus, you are my everything. She would tell you right now to "make heaven your home today by asking Jesus into your heart " and He will lead you everyday of your life, don't wait too late. She was precious saint of the living God that will be truly missed until we meet again.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 25th at Hickory Ridge Cemetery, located northwest of Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be Bro. Ricky Jackson and Bro. J.D. Ellison.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Ronald F. Steele; her mother, Eula Mae Bass of Parks, Arkansas; three daughters, Lesia Meredith and husband Jeffery of Cove, Arkansas, Tammie Wilson and husband Jerry of Ozark, and Rhonda Knapp and husband Jim of Fort Smith; three sons, Allen Brumbelow and wife Dana of Mena, Chad Steele and Remington Steele, both of the home; two sisters, Kathy Rowland and husband Joseph of Sims, Arkansas, and Amanda Barnett and husband Ken of Waldron; four brothers, J.B. Bass of Mena, Danny Bass and wife Teresa, Johnny Bass and wife Glenda, and Sammy Bass, all of Parks, Arkansas; (10) grandsons, Michael Meredith, Greg Brumbelow, Jaron Wilson, Jaylin Brumbelow, Quentin Meredith, Dustyn Brumbelow, Tristan Brumbelow, Ronald Adkins, Joshua Adkins, and Jeffery Wilson; and (18) great-grandchildren. She had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends who truly loved her.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeffery Meredith, Jerry Wilson, and Jim Knapp.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
