Obituary

Jo Anna King of Branch, Arkansas, died Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on November 30, 1943, in Paris, Arkansas, to the late William I. Sarten and Ethel Inez (Loughridge) Sarten. She was 79 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Allen King.

Jo Anna worked for 29 years in the school cafeteria for the County Line School District. She was a graduate of County Line High School, an Alderman for the the City of Branch, a cancer survivor and member of the American Cancer Society, and attended Paris First Assembly of God Church. She loved her family very much and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Paul Buchanan and Bro. Tim Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Warren and husband Tim of Magazine and Vicki Horne of Paris; five grandchildren, Lisa Thorne, Mike Madden, Kayla Cowart, Jessica Kenley, and Kole Horne; six great-grandchildren, Elijah Thorne, Cooper Madden, Rylee Cowart, Micah Cowart, Asher Thorne, and Freya Fulton.

Pallbearers are Mike Madden, Wes Powell, Randy Watson, Scott Snow, Scott Robins, and A.J. Hales.

Honorary pallbearers are Dean Watson, Fred McCaulley and Marvin Wiggins.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
