James William White of Paris, Arkansas, died Friday, January 19, 2024, at his home. He was born on August 3, 1941, in Paris to the late Ruel L. White and Virginia (Mathis) White. He was 83 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Garcez.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 24th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with the Rev. Kenny Maness officiating. Burial, with Masonic rites, will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
Jimmy was a licensed embalmer and funeral director and was former owner and operator of White Funeral Home in Paris. For several years, Jimmy was manager of Roller Funeral Home in Paris. He served for 45 years as Logan County Coroner, was a member of the Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club, was a Mason and member of Masonic Lodge #328, and a member of First Baptist Church in Paris. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, especially going Elk hunting and camping with his hunting buddies in Colorado. Jim worked countless hours serving the people of Paris and surrounding towns and communities in Logan County. He will be missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (White) Schluterman and husband Larry of Scranton; a brother, Randy Garcez of Yorba Linda, California; two grandsons, Brec Schluterman and wife Alisha and Quinton Schluterman; and three great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Kam, and Kyrie Schluterman. Jimmy is also survived by his long-time companion, Bess Ann Wingfield Cauthon of Magazine.
Pallbearers are Brec Schluterman, Quinton Schluterman, Blake Schluterman, J.W. Cauthon, Chad Freeman, and George White.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked donations be made to Paris Boys and Girls Club.
