Obituary

Jimmy Dean Steele, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, died Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on April 14, 1943, in Charleston to the late Earl Dean Steele and Velma Rae (Newhart) Steele. He was 79 years old.

Jimmy was a retired furniture repairman for 30 plus years at Riverside Furniture in Fort Smith. His favorite hobby was repairing and refinishing furniture and antique furniture, and he had a special talent for caning and weaving. Jimmy was a 1961 graduate of Charleston High School and was a faithful member of Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Charleston. Jimmy loved his family very much and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Bill VanMeter and Bro. Bill Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Jean Ann (Core) Steele; two daughters, Jennifer Cook and husband Robert of Charleston and Joanna Main and husband Alan of Springdale; his son, John Steele of Charleston; and two grandsons, Brandon Teague and Hunter Main.

Pallbearers will be his family, Jennifer, Robert, Joanna, Alan, John, Brandon, and Hunter.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
