Obituary

Jimmy Eugene Salter of Charleston, Arkansas, died Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at his home. He was born on May 30, 1930, in Bryceland, Louisiana, to the late Fred W. Salter and Myrtle F. (Bullard) Salter. He was 92 years old. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda (Perryman) Salter; two brothers, Buster Salter and Ted Salter; and a sister, Beverly Merritt.

Jimmy was a retired caster at a Foundry in Fort Smith. He was an U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and member of Enterprise Freewill Baptist Church. Jimmy loved to sing and play music. He loved his family very much and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 11th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Buddy Corbell officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Aline (Rogers) Salter; two daughters, Jeanie Alexander and husband Don of Howe, Oklahoma, and Lisa Beaver and husband Wesley of Midland; his step-children, Donna Hicks and husband Delbert of Central City, Amy Maxwell and husband Devlan of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Kenny Banning and wife Cleo of Van Buren; a brother, Richard Salter and wife Kay of Jonesboro; (12) grandchildren, (31) great-grandchildren, and (6) great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Daniel Beaver, Don Alexander, Nick Hicks, Devlan Maxwell, Jerry Bias, and Kenneth Wilson.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Enterprise Freewill Baptist Church.
