Jimmy Dale Fletcher, who resided near Branch, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born September 11, 1939 in Chismville, Arkansas, in Logan County, to the late Manuel Fletcher and Hettie (Loughridge) Fletcher. He was 78 years old.

Jim was a retired U.S. Army veteran, serving over 21 years in the U.S. Army. He served during the Vietnam War, receiving numerous medals and two Bronze Service Stars. Jim was a life-time member of the masonic lodge and member of Flight Masters Aviation Club in Fort Smith. Jim loved his animals. He had a special love for his dogs and cats that he still had at home today and loved those that preceded him in death. Jim will be missed by his family and friends.

Graveside service, with full military honors, will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 6th, at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Tim Hobbs.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, JoAnne (Davila) Fletcher; three daughters, Kathy Sue of Fort Smith, Melanie and Tina of Germany; two sons, Jimmy of Oklahoma and Brandon of Fort Smith; a step-daughter, Jessica Lerma of Ventura, California and a step-son, David Avilez and wife Yesenia of Oxnard, California; a sister, Marie Delp of Huntington; four brothers, Harold Fletcher of Branch, Bob Fletcher of Kibler, Jack Fletcher of Colorado and Harley Sorrels of Van Buren; numerous grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home in Charleston.
