Obituary

James "Jim / Jimmy" Daniel Maestri, 57, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away in his home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Jim was born May 14, 1963, to Stephen & Dorothy (Bohannan) Maestri in Springdale, Arkansas.

There are not enough words that can describe Jim. Jim was a force of nature. He was determined to work hard and provide for his family in order to give them the life he felt they deserved. Jim always greeted you with his infamous "Hey, hey!" and a bright smile on his face. He was the one everyone called for help no matter the time of day. No matter how big or small. You could always count on Jim to lend a hand. Jim enjoyed camping, playing cards, and bowling. Jim had a servant's heart and was a humble man of God. Anyone who knew Jim knew that he was the most loving father and husband.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Maestri; his grandparents, Albanian & Agnes Maestri and James & Ora Bohannan; and father-in-law, Robert Knox. He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Knox) Maestri of Fort Smith; his two children and two children-in-law, son James and wife Miranda Maestri of Greenwood and daughter Lindsey and husband Jeffrey Christie of Fort Smith; three granddaughters, Lydia and Clara Grace Maestri of Greenwood and Luna Christie of Fort Smith; his parents, Stephen and Dorothy Maestri of Fort Smith; mother-in-law, Reba Knox of Fort Smith; four brothers, a sister, and their families, Floyd and wife Linda Maestri of Fort Smith, Larry and wife Debra Maestri of Fort Smith, John and wife Mercedes Maestri of Van Buren, Alice Maestri Mays of Fort Smith, and David Maestri & Misty Buckley of Pocola, Oklahoma; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jim also devoted his life to his career and his coworkers. Jim proudly served for 41 years at The Norman Company with Howard & Kim Norman, Josh Norman, Carla Glass, Dave Gibson, Billy Johnson, Kyle Grimm, brother-in-law Steve Knox, and many others. The Norman Company provided Jim a second family that he deeply loved and cherished. He took pride in his work and would not settle until the job was finished. Jim was the prime example of a blue-collar hard-working man.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service held at 11 o'clock AM on Saturday, February 27 th , at The Norman Company, 7600 Ball Road, Fort Smith, Arkansas. All who would like to celebrate his memories are welcome to attend.
