Jewell Vincent "J.V." Driscoll passed from this earthly life Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was born December 31, 1926 in Keota, Oklahoma to the late Bill Driscoll and Edith (Brewer) Driscoll and it is between these two dates that this earth was blessed with one of the finest men many have ever known. He was almost 89 years old. He was also preceded in death by one son, Phil Driscoll, who passed away in 1998; four sisters, Joyce Andrews, Joann Bibb, Sheila Riddle, and Mary Lou Sells; two brothers, Francis Driscoll and Bud Driscoll.
J.V. accepted Christ at a young age. He attended Mineral Springs Freewill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon. After moving to Fort Smith, he joined Cavanaugh Freewill Baptist Church.
He was not a tall or big man and yet he was the tallest and strongest, he was not a man that was loud and demanded attention and yet when he spoke one listened and gave their full attention. He never spoke ill of people and did not appreciate when others did. He had the undying respect of his entire family by living his Christ centered beliefs. JV loved his family deeply and we all knew it, he loved his country sacrificially, his Lord and Savior completely and was totally devoted to his beloved wife Bobby every second of every day. This mans absence is going to leave a gaping whole in all of our lives that simply can never be filled. We were given one of Gods greatest blessings, and honorable Father, and are forever thankful to our God who was right there to welcome our sweet daddy home.
J.V. was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He lived in California for awhile before he and Bobby settled in Eastern Oklahoma. He was a painter from the late 1940's in Marion, TX, passing on that trade to his three sons. In 1974 he bought the Ranger Corral in Roland, Oklahoma and he and Bobby made the Ranger Burger and seasoned fries famous. After filling the stomachs of his neighbors in Roland for 12 years he and Bobby bought The Oil Inn in Woodward, OK and ran that for 3 years before moving to Fort Smith, AR, purchasing rental properties and retiring. Once retired you might just find him on the golf course with his golf buddies, brother Billy Driscoll and brothers-in-law C.R. Reed and Ez Andrews.
