Obituary

Jesse Richard Johnson, also known to some co-workers as "Dick Johnson", who resided in rural Ratcliff, Arkansas, died Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  He was born on July 7, 1939, in Newton, Iowa, to the late Verl Johnson and Florence (Rabenau) Johnson. He was 83 years old. He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife, Edith (Cross) Johnson; daughter, Judy Seay; two sisters, Cecilia Ringgenberg and Helen Davidson; and grandson, Jeremy Johnson.

Jesse worked 35 years as a sheet metal worker, welder, and metal fabricator in Colorado. Upon his retirement, they relocated to Ratcliff, Arkansas, opening his own metal fabrication business, J-Fab. He went back into the commercial work force for Baldor and retired after 7 years. He is a true craftsmen and artist in metal fabrication and started a new hobby of making abstract statues.

He is survived by two sons, Dan Johnson and wife Amy of Thornton, Colorado, and Curt Johnson and wife Pam of Lacey, Washington; his grandchildren, Amanda Lynch and husband Sterling, Adam Johnson, Chad Johnson, Jessica Berry and husband Tyrel, Shawn Seay and wife Betsy; and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 2nd at Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston.

All services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
