Jerry Edmond Aldridge, who resided in Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in Fort Smith. He was born July 31, 1937 in the Potts community in Franklin County to the late Ralph T. Aldridge and Reba L. (Looney) Aldridge. He was 76 years old. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Larry Aldridge.
Jerry was a Christian, baptized in 1965 by Mr. Tom Porter at Midland Boulevard Church of Christ. He was a member of West-Ark Church of Christ in Fort Smith. Jerry was employed at Oklahoma Gas & Electric Company for 35 years. He enjoyed early retirement in 1994 at the age of 57. Jerry was a 1955 graduate of Charleston High School. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved the Razorbacks, St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, and the Charleston Tigers.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Mr. Larry Todd officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olive Cemetery in Midland, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 51 years, Barbara (Bailey) Aldridge; one daughter, Gina Williams and husband Paul of Midland, Arkansas; one son, Jody Aldridge of Nevada, Texas; one sister, Sharla Lau and husband Larry of Fort Smith; one granddaughter, Bailey (Williams) Story and husband Will of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Gary Looney, Leroy Womack, Brian Womack, Bruce Womack, Danny Robins, and Tim Aldridge.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Charleston High School Class of 1955 and retirees from O.G.& E.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
