James Carl Neighbors, who resided near Paris, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born July 20, 1936 in Bauxite, Arkansas to the late Grady Neighbors and Gertrude (Ragan) Neighbors. He was 78 years old. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Neighbors.
James was a retired rodeo stock contractor and a cowboy. He was past president of the International Pro Rodeo Association (IPRA) and was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). He attended First United Methodist Church in Paris.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31st, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with Mr. Neal Davis officiating the service. Visitation will follow immediately after the service.
Memorial graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1st, at Fowler Cemetery in Paron, Arkansas, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Paris.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, George Ann (Smithers) Neighbors; three sons, Odest Neighbors of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Howard Neighbors and wife Sheila of Benton, Arkansas and Ray Neighbors and wife Ann of Benton, Arkansas; one sister, Carlene Brazil and husband Jerry of Benton, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jessica Burks of Bentonville, Arkansas and Myles Neighbors of Benton, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.O. Cravens, Ben Jordan, Gerald Smith, Don Sosebee, Tommy Blevins, Bob White, Clayton Cooper, Travis Cooper, Tommy Francis, Jim Khilling, Perry Murdock, Mark Tucker, John Wiggins, Marilyn Jones, and Jason Davis.
