James Allen King, Sr., who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, formerly of Mansfield, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016, in Charleston. He was born November 26, 1927, in Norman, Oklahoma to the late James Franklin King and Rosa Belle (Marble) King. He was 89 years old.
Jim was a retired operating engineer and heavy equipment mechanic. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, a 50 year adult volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, and he was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3rd, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Greenwood. Burial will be at Coop Prairie Cemetery, located in Mansfield, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Billa Jean (Haney) King; two daughters, Jane Elizabeth Broadbent and husband Marty of Moreno Valley, California and Victoria Lynn Jones and husband Phil of Payson, Utah; three sons, James Allen King, Jr. and wife Christine of Westminster, California, Elliott King and wife Caren of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Thomas Riley King and wife Holly of Livonia, Michigan; four step-daughters, Teresa Vendel and husband John, Julie Bangs and husband Carl, and Suzanne Little and husband Paul, all of Charleston and Penny Campbell and husband Dan of Colorado; one sister, Connie Houck of Oklahoma; one brother, Bryan King of Texas; (13) grandchildren and (21) great-grandchildren; (9) step-grandchildren and (8) step great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dan Safrenek, Jeremy Jones, Josh Jones, Brian Martin, Chris Vendel and Darrin Martin.
Family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home.
