Obituary

James Thomas King, who resided in Cecil, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born March 12, 1932 in Cecil to the late William L. King and Ethel (Milam) King. He was 82 years old. He is also preceded in death by one brother, William K. "Tuffy" King and one sister, Mary Jane Rayburn.

James Thomas was a retired agency manager for Franklin County Farm Bureau Insurance Company in Charleston and a cattleman. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, a 1949 graduate of Cecil High School, member of Arkansas Cattlemen's Association, where he served as secretary/treasurer for several years. He was a big supporter of the 4-H Club, past member of the County Line School Board, member of the USS North Hampton Reunion Association, and was an active and devoted member of Branch First Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18th, at First Baptist Church in Branch, with the Rev. Tim Hobbs officiating. Burial will be at Cecil Cemetery in Cecil, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ellen (Council) King; two sons, Trent King and wife Sheri of Cecil and Blane King and wife Faith of Henrico, Virginia; three step-daughters, Linda Pearce and husband Harry of Mesquite, Texas, Joan McDonald and husband Mike of Elm Springs, and Becky Lindley and husband Vic of Springdale; one step-son, Danny Council of Peter Pender Community; one sister, Jean Flanagan of Charleston; five grandchildren, Brian King, Joshua King, Holly King, James Anthony King, and Hannah King; five great-grandchildren, Briley, Tyler, Chloe, Jesse, and Isaiah King; eleven step-grandchildren, Michael Pearce, John McDonald, Elizabeth Curtis, Stephen McDonald, Daniel Lindley, Jennifer Lindley, Sarah Council Burford, Allison Council, Brittany Crawford, Andy Crawford, and Bryan Crawford; six step-great grandchildren, Ethan Berkshire, Chester and Stetson Curtis, Michael, Dansby, and Ali Burford.

Pallbearers will be Gary Stubblefield, Clinton Bottoms, Dwayne Hopkins, Robert Waldron, D.C. Holden, and Hugh Holden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Branch First Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class and Mark Martin.

Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
