Obituary

James S. Hood resided near Carbon City, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009, in his home. He was born July 23, 1950 in Fresno, California to the late James Elvin Hood and Winifred (Cribbs) Hood. He was 59 years old.

He is also preceded in death by one sister, Denise Hood.

James was a maintenance worker, a retired truck driver for the Star Transportation Company in Tennessee, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 13th, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston. There will be a 1:00 p.m. "Graveside Service With Military Honors" at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mellie Hood, of the home; one daughter, Pamela James & husband Vic, of Paris; three sons, Robert Hood & wife Lori, of Dinuba, California, James D. Hood & wife Teresa, of Paris, and John Hood & wife Lisa, of Paris; three sisters, Linda Hamasaki of Dinuba, California, Juanita Kennedy of Colt, Arkansas, and Wendy Garcia of Dinuba, California; four brothers, Ronald Hood of Aurora, Colorado, Mark & Michael Hood, both of Dinuba, California and Charles Hood of California; (13) grandchildren and (8) great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.

Pall Bearers will be Johnathan Hood, Joe Rice, Brandon Hood, Robert Hood, James Hood, and Kenneth Todd.

Family visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home in Charleston.
