James Edward Cunningham (Jim) of Paris, Arkansas, died Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Paris. He was born on June 23, 1934, in Paris to the late William Edward Cunningham and Gertie Faye (Earls) Cunningham. He was 88 years old. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; a sister, Zelphia Anhalt (Lawrence); a granddaughter, Lisa H. Gibson; a grandson, James Edwin Cunningham; and a brother-in-law, Avery Turnbow.
Jim retired from Pacific Gas and Electric. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Branch.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 20th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with Pastor Tim Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow, with military honors, at Baxley Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marcia V. (Boring) Cunningham; two daughters, Cindy Cunningham and Tina Self and husband Bill, all of Paris; two sons, Mike Cunningham and wife Dana of Subiaco, and Mark Cunningham of Lamar; a sister, Marylou Turnbow of Madera, California; a brother, Charles Cunningham and wife Anne of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida; (12) grandchildren, Rachel Dongallo (Misty), Nick Neves (Missie), Justin Neves, Shyla Cordova (Derrick), Andrea Stornetta (Dave), Loren Cunningham (Brooke), Shauntel Madison, Tamara Frias (Daniel), Marc Cunningham (Jessica), Rebecca Cunningham, Billy Dawn Stout (Walter), and Kenny Self (Heather); (24) Great-grandchildren; and (3) great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Mike Cunningham, Mark Cunningham, Justin Neves, Marc Cunningham, Loren Cunningham, and Tybalt Clark.
The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
