James Hal Dampier

James Hal Dampier, who resided near Bloomer, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at his home. He was born on June 15, 1949, in Paris, Kentucky, to the late James Thomas Dampier and Nernie (Frederick) Dampier. He was 77 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim was proud of the work he accomplished throughout his life. He spent his younger years as a jockey and later became a horse trainer, dedicating himself to the horses and the work he loved. He also worked as a truck driver. Jim was most proud of his family. He cherished the time they shared together and the memories they made, and his love for them will continue to live on in all who knew him.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 23rd, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Steve Gonzales officiating.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jackie (McCage) Dampier; a daughter, Lori Boblett and husband Jerry of Shady Point, Oklahoma; a son, Robie Dampier and wife Catherine of Bloomer; two sisters, Nancy Whittington and husband Gary of Fort Smith and Phyliss Howell of Fayetteville; a brother, Ruben Dampier of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Kayleigh Bowles, Sebastin Damiper, Courtney Stites, and Mishyla Dampier; and five great-grandchildren, Ryder Dampier, Kylie Stites, Carter Stites, Archer Bowles, and Grant Bowles.

Honorary pallbearers are Kinney Green, Darrell Schalski, Randy Green, Bobby Bales, Jimmy Smithson, Jimmy Reano, Bobby Reano, and James Slusher. 

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
