James Richard Breen of Central City, Arkansas, died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. He was born on December 15, 1951, in Fort Smith to the late James Joseph Breen and Virginia (Foster) Breen. He was almost 73 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Gary Cross.

For several years, Rick worked for Today's Kids in Booneville, St. Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith, and currently was produce manager at Harp's Grocery Store in Lavaca. Rick enjoyed cattle farming and attended Cornerstone First Free Will Baptist Church in Bloomer.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 9th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston at a later date.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda (VanMeter) Breen; a daughter, Ginger Harris of Charleston; two sons, Del Cross of San Francisco, California, and Larry Cross of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Brad Breen of Fort Smith and Mark Breen & wife Jana of New Mexico; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
