Obituary

James Charles "Beter" Thompson, who resided in the Dublin community near Scranton, Arkansas, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at his home. He was born October 10, 1956 in Paris, Arkansas to the late Jim Thompson and Athie (Hampton) Thompson. He was 57 years old. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Emma Sue Lowe; two brothers, Norman Thompson and Doyne Thompson.

Beter was a foreman for Forsgren, Inc. in Fort Smith for 33 years. He was a member of Cane Creek Towners Association in Scranton. Beter was a 1975 graduate of Scranton High School and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a Christian and was a loving husband and father.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22nd, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with the Rev. Kenny Thompson officiating. The body will be cremated following the service under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bobbie (Uptigrove)Thompson; one daughter, Jessica Thompson of Hagarville; one son, Jim Bob Thompson of Fort Smith; three sisters, Brenda Thompson and Judy Thompson, both of Russellville and Mary Koch and husband Daniel of Scranton; three brothers, Billy Joe Thompson and wife Irba of Subiaco, Harold Thompson and wife Stephanie of Birmingham, Alabama, and Herbert Thompson and wife Charlotte of North Little Rock.

Pallbearers will be Roy Humphries, Jim Bo Thompson, Hiley Carpenter, Tommy Flaherty, Jack Flaherty, and Zachary Ward.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Bartsch, Cliff Beavers, Tom Flaherty, and Kelly Koch.

Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home.
