Hugh Frederick Holden, who resided in Cecil, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on September 18, 1937, in Cecil, Arkansas, to the late Dudley Holden Sr. and Ola (Griffith) Holden. He was 84 years old. He was preceded in death by his wives, Dorothy (Williams) Holden and Paulette (Mayner) Holden; a sister, Martha Bagley; a brother, D.C. Holden, Jr.; and his special dog, Sport.
Hugh retired from the U.S. Navy in 1976 after 22 years of service. He then operated as an over the road driver until 2008. He was a member of Cecil United Methodist Church and member of Ozark Masonic Lodge #79.
Funeral services, with Masonic Rites, will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 5th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Windi Acord officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 7th at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his son, Charles Holden of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his daughter, Cheri Williams and husband Travis of Benton, Arkansas; two step-sons, Mark Ford and wife Patti of Denton, Texas and Steven Ford and wife Kathie of Trophy Club, Texas; a step-daughter, Jennifer Ford of Ozark; and twelve grandchildren, Hunter, Sarah, and Nolan Holden; Wyatt and Eric Williams; Tyler, Ryan, Brooke, Foster, Forest and Parker Ford; Kayla Roddy and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Holden, Nolan Holden, Wyatt Williams, Eric Williams, Travis Williams and Jefferson Bagley.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
The family respectfully requests that no flowers be sent and that instead, donations to either Tunnels to Towers (https://t2t.org) or the Cecil United Methodist Church Building Fund be made in honor of Hugh Holden. This would be Hugh's wish and we thank you for your generosity on his behalf.
