Howard E. "Butch" Hemphill, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, formerly of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at his home. He was born October 6, 1948 in Winnfield, Louisiana to the late Howard Hemphill and Julia Inez (Tyler) Hemphill. He was 66 years old. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, DeLora Hemphill; one sister, Janice White, and his brother, Ernie Hemphill.
Butch was a retired pipeliner inspector for Conoco Phillips. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved being outdoors on the farm and working with his cattle. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston. Local arrangements and services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
Funeral services will also be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16th, at Zion Baptist Church in Georgetown, Louisiana. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery in Georgetown, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Hemphill of Charleston, Arkansas; one daughter, Shanda Walenta and husband Jason of Madison, Mississippi; one son, Caleb Hemphill and wife Karen of Raleigh, North Carolina; two step-sons, Laurel Briley of Sallisaw, Oklahoma and Shawn Briley and wife Jenise of Van Buren, Arkansas; one sister, Gay Nell Hannegan and husband Tim of Georgetown, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Will, Sam, and Max Walenta and Kalen Hemphill; six step-grandchildren, Tasha, Heven, Shelby, Noah, Ava, and Vivi Briley; two step great-grandchildren, Kiera and Izzy.
Pallbearers will be Tim Hannegan, Todd Hannegan, Ty Book, Lynn Maxey, Ronnie Hemphill, and Gary Hayes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Tyler, Rayford Green, Gerald McGee, and Larry Smith.
Family will visit with friends Friday evening at Zion Baptist Church.
