Herbert Edward Stratton, who resided in Wynne, Arkansas, died Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. He was born August 3, 1938, in Marianna, Arkansas, to the late Homer Corder Stratton and Pauline (Beauchamp) Stratton. He was 81 years old.
Herbert was a retired general contractor and farmer. He served eight years in the Army National Guard and was a member of Wynne Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18th, at Mayberry Cemetery, located in Central City near Fort Smith. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28th, at Wynne Baptist Church in Wynne, Arkansas. Officiating both services will be the Rev. Glenn Pettus. Local services and arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara (George) Stratton; his three children, Paul Warren Stratton and wife Kim of Memphis, Stephen Edward Stratton and wife Allisyn of Lavaca, and Johnna Marie Howell and husband Aaron of Fort Smith; his sister, Mary Jo Zipp of New Braunfels, Texas; five grandchildren, Linley, Hannah, Michelle, Ashley, and Rachel; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Susan Vardeman.
