Helen Joyce Harper, who resided in Paris, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017, at her home. She was born June 11, 1925 in Atoka, Oklahoma to the late Theopholis Walden New and Carrie Belle (Mason) New. She was 92 years old. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene Harper; her son, Don Harper; and one brother, Talmage New.
Helen was a retired Paris Elementary School teacher and worked for Paris Public School System for 35 years. She was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan, served many years as church librarian, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with the Rev. Bill Van Meter officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
She is survived by two daughters, Beth O'Neal and husband Gary of Caulksville and Carol Opperman and husband Larry of Paris; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary O'Neal, Chris O'Neal, Jon Mark O'Neal, Scott O'Neal, Larry Opperman, and Chaz Grist.
Family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
