Helen Bernice "Carden" Hall resided in Branch, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Greenhurst Nursing Home in Charleston. She was born June 12, 1919 in Fort Smith to the late Alvin Maurice Carden and Anor Lee "Carroll" Carden. She was 89 years old.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Charleston. She was the first female rural mail carrier in the State while her husband Allan served in World War II. She and Allan had a dairy from 1950 until Helen sold it in 1981.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Allan Hall,Sr.
A family graveside service will be held Monday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Charleston, with the Rev. Lewis Chesser and Rev. Mary Susan Hilliard officiating, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Johnson & husband, Charles, of Fayetteville and Debbie Dyer & husband, Steve, of Fayetteville; one son, Leon Allan Hall, Jr. & wife, Peggy of Clanton, Alabama; two grandchildren, Debbie Ann Maxwell & husband, Tom, of Richardson, Texas and Larry Allan Hall & wife, Renee, of Clanton, Alabama and five great-grandchildren.
