Helen Lavonne Banks of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Monday, July 4, 2022, at Chapel Ridge Health and Rehab Center in Fort Smith. She was born on November 8, 1927, in LaPort City, Iowa, to the late Lewis Ray Montgomery and Bessie May (Stearns) Montgomery. She was 94 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Banks.

Helen was a retired waitress.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8th at First Church of the Nazarene , 4813 North O St. Fort Smith, Arkansas. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16th at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Nevada, Iowa.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Dempsey and James of Fort Smith; a brother, Francis Montgomery and Judy of Nevada, Iowa; three grandchildren, Seth Voyce, Sarah Ramirez, and Shon Dempsey; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
