Harold Franklin Sanders, who resided in Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at his home. He was born on November 12, 1944, in Poteau, Oklahoma, to the late Chirls Sanders and Burtis Morris Sanders. He was 77 years old.

Harold served over twenty years and retired from the U.S. Army. After his retirement, he started working as a security guard at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. Harold was a member of Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church in Bloomer.

A memorial graveside service, with "Full Military Honors" will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9th at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith. He is survived by two daughters, Shannon Moore of Kernersville, North Carolina and Nicki Ward and husband Nathan of Stigler, Oklahoma; the mother of his children, JoAnn Sanders of Kernersville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Austin, Lyndsey, Rachael, Tate, and Eric.
