Dean Shelby
August 15, 1940 – January 31, 2009
He was retired from Whirlpool in Fort Smith after 41 years, member of the Charleston Scooter Club, a 1959 graduate of County Line High School and member of the Charleston First United Methodist Church.
He is also preceded in death by one brother, Jim Shelby and three sisters, Inez DeVito, Martha Graney and Mary Shelby.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Charleston, with the Rev. Mary Susan Hilliard officiating, burial at the Nixon Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
He is survived by five sisters, Gladys Henningson of Fort Smith, Frances Teufel of Milwalkee, Wisconsin, Annette Moore of Greenwood, South Carolina, Nadine Schramm of New York City, New York, and Neta Byrd of Fort Smith; one brother, Ralph Shelby of Little Rock and numerous nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shelby Teufel, Dr. Gene Shelby, Marvin Henningson, Larry Teufel, David Martin Byrd, Brent Byrd, and Greg Graney.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Ford Sunday School Class and "Special Friends", Melvin & Anna Swain and Allen & Joanna King.
Family visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
