Grace Thomas Jenkins, 84, of Charleston, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Charleston. She was born August 23, 1923, in Magazine to the late John Thomas and Jane Carpenter Thomas, and peacefully fell asleep in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with family at her bedside. She was a retired House Keeping Supervisor for the Hilton Hotels in Houston, Texas, and was a member of the First Assembly of God in Charleston. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Jim Barnes.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Ellington Cemetery near Magazine.
She is survived by her former husband, Wilson Jenkins of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Brenda Barnes and husband, Tom, of Charleston; one son, Bradford Jenkins and wife, Shirley, of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Brad Barnes and wife, Jessica, of Houston, Texas, and Tasha LaGarce and husband, Darwin, of Cleveland, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Dalton and Kailey LaGarce, and Allison and Kristen Barnes; and beloved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad Barnes, Darwin LaGarce, Wayne Thomas, Billy Hamilton, Brian Vinsant, and Tony York. Honorary pallbearers will be the Greenhurst Nursing Home Staff.
The family will visit with friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
