Obituary

Golda Fern Pistole, who resided in Branch, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was born September 20, 1921 in the Potts Community, located south of Charleston in Franklin County to the late Joseph Hayes and Susie (Sharpe) Hayes. She was 92 years old. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Opal Pistole; four sisters and two brothers.

Golda worked for Garrison Furniture Company in Fort Smith. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a member of Branch Church of Christ.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. B.J. Thomas and Brad Pistole officiating. Burial will be at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her daughter, Sondra Thomas and husband Bill of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; two sons, Joe Pistole and wife Peggy of Fort Smith and Dennis Pistole of Dardanelle; seven grandchildren, David Thomas, Mark Thomas, Aaron Thomas, Bryan Pistole, Brad Pistole, Brandon Pistole, and Ashley Newman; ten great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.

Public viewing will begin Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
