Obituary

Gerda Miesner of Charleston, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 8, 2022, at her home. She was born on October 28, 1928, in Peucker, Silesia, to the late Josef Rind and Emma (Jung) Rind. She was 94 years old.

Gerda was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. She was a pint sized German dynamo who was fiercely proud of her family, particularly her two granddaughters, unfailingly loyal to those she called friends, and an unrelenting advocate for kindness to all animals. She made every holiday a festive event with both food, fare, and conversation. There is so much more that should be said but in the end, what she did was to make our little world a lot brighter and colorful. She will be truly missed.

Memorial mass service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston, with Father Norman McFall officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Carl Miesner; her son, David Miesner and wife Gina of Charleston; a sister, Renate Zecha of Stutensee, Germany; two granddaughters, Hannah Schluterman and husband Kendall of Subiaco and Annika Gentry and husband Logan of Charleston; and three great-grandchildren, Clayton and Camden Schluterman and Nora Gentry.
