Geraldine Elizabeth Nixon of Fort Smith, Arkansas, formerly of Lavaca, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 in Fort Smith. She was born August 24, 1930 in Coal Hill to the late Lester Crabtree and Bertha Mae (Mahan) Crabtree. She was 80 years old.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Truman Nixon; two sons, Ray Nixon and John Robert "Bobby" Nixon and one great grandson, Christopher Ray Myers Nixon.
Geraldine was a housewife.
A private family committal service will be Wednesday, October 13th at Wilcox-Nixon Cemetery, located south of Caulksville.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 13th, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Rev. Steve Poarch officiating, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by one daughter, Lana McGrew & husband Danny of Fort Smith; one son, Richard Nixon & wife Dian of Fort Smith; two sisters, Linda Callahan of Paris and Earlene Lovelace of Tulsa; one brother, Jim Crabtree of Charleston; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dan McGrew, Ross McGrew, Richard Nixon, Pete Nixon, Michael Nixon, Curtis Champion, and Kevin Kimbrough.
Family will visit with friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
