Geraldine (Jerry) W. McBride went to be with her Savior, Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at the age of 87.
She was born October 27, 1922 in Ovalo, Texas to the late Thomas J. Williams and Ava Lou (Staggs) Williams.
Jerry was a member of the Branch First Baptist Church, where she served as church clerk for over 30 years. She was a member of Charleston Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and was a self-employed Tax Preparer for 35 years.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil McBride; one brother, Milton Odell Williams of Levelland, Texas and a brother-in-law, Travis Rowland of Farmington, New Mexico.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 7th, at the Branch First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Hobbs officiating. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. "Graveside Service" at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by a son, Joe McBride & wife Kathy, of Little Rock; a daughter, Sandra Whittington & husband Charles, of Fort Smith; three sisters, Tommye Drewry & husband Don, of Commerce, Texas, Janelle Rowland of Foster, Oklahoma and Sue Anderson & husband Jerry, of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, J.G. Williams & wife Juanita, of Sulfur Springs, Texas; one sister-in-law, Lavelle Williams of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren, Sarah Wagner & husband Rob, of Wierton, West Virginia, Barry Whittington & wife Kathy, of Pottsville, Arkansas and Wade Whittington & wife Martha, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two great-grandsons, Dakota & Logan Wagner of Wierton, West Virginia and many nieces & nephews.
Pall Bearers will be Garland Mays, Norman Martin, Mick Mainer, Robert Waldron, Reggie Johnson, Wendal Johnson, Gary Stubblefield, and Kenton Hurt.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be James T. King, Jimmie Gray, Jim Cunningham, Mike Dunn, Wayne Johnson, and members of the Ladies III Sunday School Class.
The family will visit with friends 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Branch First Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Fianna Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Activity Fund.
