Dortha Geraldine Hurst, who resided in Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017, in Greenwood, Arkansas. She was born April 12, 1935 in Altus, Arkansas to the late Gerald Hampton and Agnes (Zolliecoffer) Hampton. She was 82 years old. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Dean Hurst; a son, Keith Hurst; her sister, Milda Masengale; and one brother, Don Hampton.
Geraldine was a homemaker. She was also a teacher's aide for 16 years at Parker Elementary School in Fort Smith, and she attended Heritage Church in Van Buren.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7th, at Heritage Church on Pointer Trail in Van Buren. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Hess Cemetery, located in Coal Hill, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. Officiating the service will be Pastor Kemp Holden and Pastor Wes Hilliard.
Geraldine is survived by three sons, Steve Hurst and wife Lisa of Greenwood, Marty Hurst of Van Buren, and Wesley Hurst of Fort Smith; two brothers, James Hampton of Clarksville and George Hampton of Greenwood; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brayden Hurst, Mart Hurst, Blake Hurst, Alex Watson, Cody Young, and David Sheppard.
The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, one hour prior to the service, at Heritage Church @ 1604 East Pointer Trail Van Buren, Arkansas. (479) 474-6424.
