Genevieve "Genny" Rose Klein of Charleston, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was born on July 1, 1936, in Willowdale, Kansas, to the late William J. Bayer and Margaret C. (Gehlen) Bayer. She was 87 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Bobby K. Klein; a great-grandson, Kenneth Hunter; and several brothers and sisters.
Genny was a homemaker, a member of the Mother's Society, and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston.
Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Deacon Mark Verkamp officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21st at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston, with Father Norman McFall officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
She is survived by four daughters, Catherine Smith and husband Joe of Charleston, Dorothy Hunter and husband Tommy of Lavaca, Barbara Chapin and husband Marvin of Fort Smith, and Janet Kanady and husband Marlon of Dover; a sister, Joann Payne of Kingman, Kansas; two brothers, Leonard Bayer and wife Shirley of Kingman, Kansas, and Herman Bayer and wife Flossie of Mt. Grove, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Josh Kanady, Jared Kanady, Simon Jones, Matthew Luce and John Jetton.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Smith, Tommy Hunter, Marvin Chapin, Marlon Kanady and Matthew Smith.
