Fredrick Edwin Rowland, who resided near Scranton, Arkansas, died Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville, Arkansas. He was born on October 12, 1951, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to the late William Joseph Rowland and Cecilia Myrlene (McKean) Rowland. He was 70 years old. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Killian.

Fred served 25 years and was a retired U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. He was a rock cutter for Rainbow Rock Quarry near Midway, member of the American Legion in Scranton, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and was of the Baptist faith.

A memorial service will be held on April 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the American Legion building in Scranton, 108 S. Park Ave. Scranton, Arkansas. Full military honors from the U.S. Army Honor Guard will take place be at 2:00 p.m.

He is survived by his wife Ellen (Weisenauer) Rowland; a daughter, Dawn Sims of Lamar; five sisters, Robin Nelson of Roseville, Melody Kirby and Norma Walker, both of Paris, Juanita Jackson of Tennessee, and Billie Jo Shuster of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Leslie Marie Stinnett and Kimberly Ann Elliott; five great-grandchildren, Ronald Elliott, Peter Elliott, Hope Stinnett, Espin Gardner, and Arkyn Gardner; a step-granddaughter, Autumn Faith Conklin.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.
