Obituary

Franky Dale Cook, who resided near Charleston, Arkansas, died Friday, January 6, 2023, at Baptist Health Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on March 23, 1948, in Charleston, and was the middle of nine children, to the late O.E. Cook and Irene (Brewer) Cook. He was 74 years old. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Morgan Cook; four brothers, Bill, Jim, Emmett, and Doyle and two infant siblings.

Frank was a 1967 graduate of County Line High School and played baseball for the County Line Indians. After graduating, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a security policeman and was stationed at various military bases across the world, including voluntary service in Vietnam. Prior to deployment to Vietnam, Frank met the love of his life, Glenda Lee, in Homestead, Florida. Upon his return, they married in 1972 and had 50 wonderful years together. They  had two sons, Dale and Chris. Frank retired after 26 years from the U.S. Air Force in 1995 as a Senior Master Sergeant (First Sergeant) with the 62nd Airlift Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base. Frank was an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a mason and a member of the Chickamauga Tribe. He had three grandchildren, Allison, Madelyn and Ethan, who he enjoyed spending as much time with as possible and nothing made him happier than being home on his tractor.

A memorial visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston. There will be a memorial graveside service, with full military honors from the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Team, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 17th at Morris Cemetery in Bloomer, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Glenda; two sons, Dale Cook and wife Natalie of Eden, Maryland, and Christopher Cook and wife Jennifer of Charleston; two sisters, Debbie Walker of Charleston and Dinah Kaman and husband Tony of Van Buren; two brothers, Donald Cook and wife Lena of Charleston and Terry Cook and partner David Sims of Palm Springs, California; three grandchildren, Allison Cook, Madelyn Cook, and Ethan Cook.
