Obituary

Eunice Magdalene Waggoner, who resided in Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016, in Fort Smith. She was born April 26, 1940, in the Arbuckle Island Community near Lavaca to the late Jessie D. House and Clara Ellen (Elkins) House. She was 76 years old. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Delca Hewitt and Wilma Watson; one brother, Woody House; and one granddaughter, Kaylea Michele.

Eunice along with her husband Roy, was owner and operator of Eunice's Country Cookin' Restaurant in Fort Smith for 20 years, before their son Dennis and his wife Cindy, took over the family business. She treasured her family (we were all her favorite), cherished her friends, and she appreciated her customers of many years. Who could forget her open-faced roast beef sandwiches, her chicken and dumplin's, home-made rolls or her favorite, chocolate peanut butter pie. Our mother was a kind and gentle woman who loved God with all her heart. She showed love and compassion to all. She read her Bible daily. Her favorite verse was 2 Chronicles 7:14. Momma had a special fondness for children and enjoyed teaching them in Bible class and caring for the little ones in the church nursery. She was a member of Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 20th, at Measles Cemetery in Lavaca, with Mr. Charlie Wagoner and the Rev. Will Harmon officiating. Funeral arrangements and services were under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Roy Allen Waggoner; three daughters, Alretta Reese and husband Larry of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Robertta Moses and husband Darrell of Fort Smith, and Valeri Fenner and husband Jon of Charleston; one son, Dennis Waggoner and wife Cindy of Fort Smith; two sisters, Betty Berry and husband Sidney of Bloomer and Connie Cox and husband Ronnie of Fort Smith; one brother, J.D. House and wife Delores of Central City; (11) grandchildren and (14) great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Chapel Ridge Health and Rehab for their years of loving care and became like family, and to Peachtree Hospice for their compassionate support.
